My Guys Busts Sleepers and ADP Targets 2021

Intro 00:16
You’re listening to the good old boys fantasy football podcast. Now here’s your host, Kevin, Derek and Alex.

Derek 00:23
Alrighty. Welcome in ladies and gentlemen to another episode of the good old boys fantasy football podcast. My name is Derek and I am joined as always, by your co host, Kevin and Alex, guys, how we doing tonight?

Kevin 00:37
Doing good man. I am down to two drafts left. I have two drafts left. One is starting tomorrow. And one is werkelijk. That is we’re doing it as a fast draft on Sunday this week. So then they’re finally in the books. There have been many, many, but I’m excited for football. We’re, what 10 days away nine days away from kickoff of the NFL season to watch the defending Super Bowl champions and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night national television as they kick off this 2021 season. So let’s get about it boys. I’m pretty happy.

Alex 01:18
I think I also have two drafts remaining. Having just completed just a couple of them are obviously our home League, which we’ll get to talk about here a little bit towards the end of the show. But then I just actually joined a werkelijk today so new job you know, you gotta find your way in. And so we haven’t had that draft scheduled yet. But I’m excited to see what that one is. And I’ve got my my other longtime league that I’ve been a part of with a bunch of high school buddies. You guys are my college buddies league and then I’ve got my high school buddies lead. And that one is an auction draft. So I’m looking forward to doing that one on Labor Day and then yeah, we lined it up, tee it up and we get to watch real meaningful football on Sundays. Not fake high school football on Sunday.

Kevin 02:09
Speaking of fake high school football has been following Yes. This deal with IMG Academy and whatever that IMG

Alex 02:17
Academy. It’s Bishop Sycamore

Kevin 02:20
who played IMG Academy. Yeah, and they got themselves on this nationally televised game on the four letter network. And then IMG smoked them 56 nothing

Alex 02:29
two days after they played a game.

Kevin 02:32
I seen that they played a game in Pennsylvania on Friday and then went to Ohio and played that game a man

Alex 02:38
Monday. Yeah, I did see is a mess and Bishop Sycamore has already elevated itself to one of the top fantasy football team names this year. And truth be told it should be the trophy that is awarded to last place in everybody’s league is the bishop Sycamore trophy.

Kevin 02:56
brutal, brutal. I was I was floored when I started reading that.

Alex 03:01
It’s so crazy. Their coaches already been fired. Their their next three opponents have canceled. And now the Ohio Governor has is looking at or has opened an investigation into how it happened.

Kevin 03:17
It you feel bad for the players, right? These are high school kids,

Alex 03:21
but not all of them are high schoolers. Post High School 20 years old. Yeah.

Kevin 03:29
It is okay, crazy. So I did not mention that apart.

Alex 03:33
Anybody who can read anything into it to see just the downside, and greed of youth sports and youth athletics. Read into this and then be weary about what you’re putting your kids into next time you have this unbelievable opportunity that you can’t pass up. Oh, wow. Yeah, Sham and a half.

Kevin 03:51
Well, then I feel bad for the kids who are actually in high school, not the fake high school kids, but the kids are actually in high school because at 16 1718 years old, there’s only about two or three things on your mind. And if you’re playing football that’s occupying a good chunk of your mind and then I’ll let y’all figure out what the other two are. But I do feel bad for those kids. Yeah, I do feel bad. But what a crazy story, right? I mean it’s just unbelievable. And here we are. We’re kicking off our show and we’re talking about it and when’s the last time we talked prep sports ever ever and sure enough, here we go. It’s it’s you know, kind of the off the railroad track headliner and Derek shaking his head because he’s saying this wasn’t in the freakin show notes. Oh,

Derek 04:40
that’s alright though, cuz it gave me time to get all of the all the behind the scenes stuff that needed to get done. Done. So I like it. I like it. There is a lot of other news kind of going on there. Right. We had a lot of cut down start happening. What were some of your guys’s takeaways on some of that. Obviously, you had the big headliner today coming out in New England.

Kevin 05:00
That was the big headliner. I think, for me, what was most intriguing was the number of trades that actually happened today. So that way players who teams wanted didn’t get cut, and they got tossed back out into the pool. There were six or seven at least different trades all for late round picks. But for guys who, you know, the Broncos got a guy from the niners, what the bills, the dolphins, the Jets all traded for guys who, um, the Ravens and another deal? Yeah, the the Ravens and patriots made a deal to like, I think that’s what I found most intriguing guys, because I don’t feel like I remember that very many, you know, when I’m thinking of cut days, I don’t remember this happening. And so it’s very interesting to kind of follow that along and going, you know, what I can buy into this, like you’re swapping draft picks and doing whatever to go get a guy that you feel like you can take a chance on, instead of putting them out there and hoping you can sign up to the practice squad.

Alex 05:59
I think there’s a couple reasons behind it. And I’m not exactly sure when the restructure happened. But you guys remember that, like, it used to be that you would gradually get down to 53 players throughout the four weeks of preseason football, right? So there’d be a game. And then there would be a cut, and then there’ll be another game and a cut, you know, week by week, you’d kind of go down? Well, you know, when they renegotiated the CBA, that that all changed. And so now, you know, you have to get from something like what is it like 85, or something,

Kevin 06:31
something like that? Three

Alex 06:33
likey or, you know, maybe 65 to 53, like you have to get down to 65 by week three, the preseason down to 53. And so I just know that, you know, I think we might have seen this last year had there been preseason, and dudes can put stuff on tape. But we didn’t get that opportunity. And so I think that’s what you’re starting to see. And I think teams are starting to take advantage of the fact that these guys are employed for a long time. You know, they’re not, they’re not guys that are out there willy nilly. And they might be if it was the normal cut downs that that would, you know, that we’re all used to. But I think that’s kind of what the product of this new cut down CBA that they have, which is all an effort to keep guys, you know, on rosters longer and to make sure that guys have a paycheck, because I don’t know if you know this, but if you don’t do football, it’s kind of hard to get into a different line of work for a lot of these guys.

Kevin 07:30
Yeah, I like it. Um, I didn’t do for a lot of the reasons that you mentioned, Alex, like, I think it’s great to give these guys extra exposure. Like if they’re injured week one and just kind of dinged up and they’re trying to work through things. It doesn’t completely handicap them for making a team. They still have something to play for. They’re able to put their best effort on film throughout a couple different games. And it allows the scouts to kind of travel around to some of these other preseason games and check it out. Like there’s a lot to it that guys that maybe we’re getting missed in the past, right? where, you know, yes, some of these guys are undrafted, free agents, whatever. But they get cut and they just kind of get lost Well, now, because of this, they’re able to put pretty substantial film together on these guys and teams are able to make a very educated estimate on Hey, is this value worth bringing this guy in and give him a shot with our squad even though he didn’t fit on that other one? So I think it can only help the NFL. And it’s a move that I am very happy with. I absolutely support it.

Derek 08:36
Love it. Love it. So yeah, obviously you have a lot of these things shaken out. And teams have cemented their rosters, at least for the most part as we look at this thing going forward. And there’s been a lot of fantasy drafts that have taken place, there’s still a lot more. So the two heaviest drafted weekends are the one we just went through and the one coming up. And for everybody that has yet to draft that’s where we’re going to spend some time at tonight is really talking about some ADP type of targets. So we’re going to each kind of go through give the early the mid, the late round type of targets that we’re going after for the ADP. We’re also going to then hit up we went to a sports me to talk a little bit about some of the my guys the sleepers the bus, those types of things out there. We got some good takes there. We’ll share those with you guys. And then we’re going to plant the flag for the my guy, the sleeper and the bus for each one of us as well. And we’ve got the home lead that we’re gonna recap we just drafted that over the weekend and a lot of smack was talked there. And we’ll continue that on tonight. So look forward to that and a lot more fun there. Guys, if you haven’t had the chance to already, head over to YouTube, the good old boys fantasy football podcast, YouTube channel, click that subscribe button, ring that bell We very much appreciate it. One of the best ways to support the show. But guys, let’s go ahead and hop on over into the ADP targets and who are you targeting out there for the first round The early rounds, I’m sorry, the early rounds.

Kevin 10:04
So I kind of I looked at this, how where you can capture the most value in the first two rounds is kind of my spin on this and a guy that you’ve been able to get in the second round consistently and depending on whether it’s single quarterback or superflex, sometimes as late as the very early third round, is one davante. Adams, we know that Aaron Rodgers is back in Green Bay. In my opinion, Davante Adams is the best fantasy wide receiver there is just because of the dominance of target share and the connection that Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have with him. And if the packers are the packers are a good team, yes, but for fantasy purposes, if the packers are good with anything, you can completely understand where they’re funneling fantasy production. It is going from Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams. It is going Aaron Rodgers handoff to Aaron Jones, and then you get a sprinkle of Aaron Jones in the pass game. Yes, you’re going to have some other players who obviously score points but for funneling purposes, and understanding where the ball is going week in and week out. Davante Adams is my is my Surefire pick, as far as best value that you can get in the first two rounds.

Alex 11:28
Yeah, I went with a guy who’s actually kind of a little towards the back half of the first round. And, you know, having just done our homework draft and picking in in that area, you know, there’s some question marks and you got to be able to react and, and figure out kind of how the draft is gonna play out in front of you. And a lot of the guys that you don’t want to earn that you might want to take aren’t gonna be there. Shout out SS basketball pod. Thanks. We are. So I went with Austin eckler, who by some is, you know, going as low as 13 as high as nine. But he’s there right towards the back half. And that’s a RB one that you’re gonna get. He’s playing in a offense, that’s good. The only downside, and I guess maybe the only downside is that he plays in the AFC West, but then you’re gonna need a lot of points to keep up with some of those offenses in that AFC West. And there’s a lot of points to be had in the AFC West. So I went with with Austin eckler as a guy that for the for the value of being that early second, back into the first round, you know, as a running back that, you know, is going to be an RV one and featured in an offense. That to me is is attractive.

Derek 12:49
Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, kind of piggybacking on on the Austin eckler. There, Kevin and I have done a lot of a lot of drafts and, you know, co managed a lot of teams together. And that has been one of our favorite pairings is a team that we can get Austin eckler on in the second round. And it’s been amazing how often we’ve been able to do that over the offseason. And Alex I can’t agree more that he’s probably one of the biggest values that you can get in the in the early rounds there. So I 100% agree with that pick there. So my early, my early values there I’ve got two and I’ve got two guys that I constantly target in the second round if I’m towards the back of that second round. So if Austin eckler there yep, I’m gonna smash the draft button and move on there. And the second but if not, I start looking at a guy like Antonio Gibson love the love the ceiling that this guy has love a lot of the talk coming out of the Washington football team about how they potentially plan on using this guy and the type of role that they see for him. And I think that he’s going to do some very big things. The other guy that I look for if if both of those guys are off the board is ch and it was a guy that I was able to pick up in the third round of our home league that we just drafted there and absolutely loved being able to get clyde edwards a layer in the third round to pair up and get that team really cemented and going I see very big things coming from clyde edwards earlier this year and see a very, very big ceiling for him and see that breakout that everybody’s expected last year I see that one happening this year for him. So guys, any other thoughts on some early round values there a guy’s a target in the in the early rounds for ADP?

Kevin 14:29
No, I think it’s pretty cut and dry right like most most way across the board. Depending on your format again, single quarterback or super flex like your first two rounds, you pretty well know the top 24 guys that are going one might slide a couple spots because someone picks a different guy that they really like you know, I mean, you might see digs go at the beginning of the second round because someone really likes digs. You also might see him go at the end of the second round because running backs aplenty the quarterback run is real. And he just kind of slips through there. So he’s another guy dominates target share, like the wide receivers the top and wide receivers, getting them at the back end of the seconds. If you are, if you feel comfortable with it, it’s a great way to start a zero RB approach in a super flex if you go quarterback and then one of these top top tier wide receivers, because then you’re most likely, especially if you’re at the back end, the second early third, you’re able to kind of pair that in with a Waller or kiddle type. For the tight end to kind of really cement that zero RB approach. Or if you just go in with the true balanced approach, right, you went Dalvin Cook or Derrick Henry in the first round, and then you want to pair that up with the top wide receiver and look for some of these running backs late whether it’s Gus Edwards, Darrell Henderson, who I’m gonna talk about here in a bit. Mike Davis, miles Gaskin, those type of guys. So there’s a very sound approach to that, especially for those guys drafting at the top of the draft, kind of how that flows back and forth. It’s a little bit different for the tail end of the draft or the back half. You have to strategize it a little bit differently.

Derek 16:14
Absolutely. jB chode knows, good friend this show chimed in there saying what’s up guys what up jB chode knows. So guys, let’s go ahead and move on into some mid round guys. And you’re where we’re kind of classifying this as far as the mid rounds go is, is going to be kind of in that fourth to eighth round type of range as far as an ADP targeting type of deal goes. So when it gets to the mid rounds, who’s the guy that you’re really going after that you just kind of love as far as where the value falls for that.

Kevin 16:43
So for me, it’s Darrell Henderson, I think people kind of they were really high on him after Cam Akers went down and then holy crap did the brakes pump. Henderson banged up his thumb. They traded for Sony Michele, Xavier Jones all of a sudden, you know is is kind of fallen off the wayside too, but but Daryl Henderson really kind of pump the brakes on his run up the draft board. So for me, it was a really nice some cementing of his value in the mid rounds. I think yes, Sony, Michelle is going to have a roll with the LA Rams. But Daryl Henderson is going to get first crack at it because he’s the one who knows the offense. Right now you can get him depending on your draft anywhere from the six to the eighth round. And so again, if you’re going zero RB at the top, this is the type of guy that you want to be able to get as your second or third back depending on what you’re doing and everything else. For the mid rounds as far as running backs go so he is explosive. The Rams spent second round capital on them guys like they’re not going to give up on him. He’s not in Todd Gurley shadow, he’s not in Canmake or shadow. As long as he can stay healthy. I still think he’s going to see the lion’s share of the work. And Michelle is going to be there as kind of a veteran spell back to help out in some situations. But Daryl Henderson will get first crack at everything this year, provided he stays healthy.

Alex 18:07
My guys kind of the same way just on the opposite coast. And that is James Robinson who depending on where you’re looking at ADP and and obviously the injury news propels him back into that conversation and some of these I don’t know were updated some of these adps that I’m looking at were updated after Oh God, His name is dumb. JOHN a blank I have a CTA. Thank you etn after etn got hurt, but you can you can get James Robinson some of these places are saying as early as 29. And as late as 56. We’re talking about a two up over two round spread between where his ADP is. And to me, the guy who’s gonna be he’s gonna be a featured back we know what he can do. Yes, it’s a new coaching staff and yes, Jacksonville has a shiny new toy in Trevor Lawrence. But James Robinson is a workhorse we’ve seen that I saw that when he was in college wish I would have listened my own advice and use them last year. But we know he can he can carry the load. And, and we’ll be fine getting you know, three, four yards of pop. He’s a tough runner inside in between the tackles, he can get outside and has that explosiveness. So James Robinson, to me is a guy that if he’s still available in the fourth round, you know, and your numbers up, go ahead and hit hit draft and and just walk away smiling because you’ve got a true featured running back in that offense, you know, depending on how urban wants to do things, but you’ve got to featured back and a guy that you know, you know is going to get the football so I would say that that James Robinson is a guy that I mean that’s a no brainer in the middle rounds if he’s still available and you’re up picking in the in the fourth or fifth round. Hey, draft move on.

Derek 20:01
Yeah. And that’s kind of where I’ve seen both Henderson and Robinson kind of end up is kind of in that fourth fifth round type of territory there. Because you’ve seen and you’ve seen some guys like, you know, Myles Sanders, David Montgomery kind of start to fall towards the back of that third early fourth type of deal. And then you typically get almost a half round break before you see like a Daryl Henderson or a. James Robinson go. And you’re right, both of those guys are set to have great years this year. Both of those guys, I think, will get a ton of opportunity to turn up volume, and are really set for right if you’re new, like like Kevin’s already said there if you’re going to zero or be approached, both of these guys are great values and great targets in those mid rounds to help propel that along. They’re my my mid rounds, if I’m playing a single QB type of deal, I love going after Kyler you can typically get him right in right about that fifth round range. So I’ve really loved the teams that have put together with Kyler. In the fifth type of thing. I for all other formats there, Damien Harris has been a guy that’s steadily been creeping up on my draft board. They’re loving the way that he runs. He’s been a very powerful running runner, very efficient with the ball. From what I’ve been seen here in this preseason as well. The news today actually only helps him I think, because one of the big drawbacks that I had on Damien Harris, was that when you get inside the redzone, what was that going to look like? Because you knew the Cam Newton was going to put up 10 to 12 touchdowns on the ground. And he was going to vulture a lot of those touchdowns that could go to Damien Harris. Otherwise, with cam no longer there, I think that actually helps him a little bit more. So. So I’m a I’m a fan of Damien Harris, who a lot of times you can get kind of in that fifth, fifth round going after both, in most cases, going after both James Robinson and Daryl Henderson, guys, any other thoughts on the mid rounds?

Alex 22:03
You know, that, you know, I will say this, and if you’re going into a draft draft, and you’re thinking, Okay, I know what I’m going to do in the first two rounds, I have a pretty good idea of what what players I’m going to get those middle rounds, like you’re not gonna, you’re not gonna lose the fantasy football season, if you take the wrong guy in the first round, it’s gonna hurt but you’re not going to lose would take it in the first round. But you can really, really improve your chances if you nail your picks in four or five, six and seven. Like that really, really helps your fantasy football team. So the those rounds, I think they’re they’re much harder, because obviously the player pool is limited. But those rounds are more important in my opinion, than that the first two picks that you take four or five, six, and seven are where you can make your Hey, and really separate yourself out from everybody else in your league.

Derek 22:54
Yeah, I think I think there’s definitely definitely some method there for sure. When you look at the late rounds, let’s go ahead and head that way. For the late rounds. Who is some of your flyers? Who are you looking at there? And again, for everybody out there watching, we’ve kind of defined this for, for this purpose in this exercise of late rounds be in ninth round and beyond. So who are you looking at kind of ninth round and beyond.

Kevin 23:20
So I am looking at Mr. Corey Davis, and I didn’t expect to ever be pumping the Corey Davis train on our show. But I’ve been paying attention obviously, there’s interest in Zach Wilson and just trying to see what he’s going to do knowing that he’s going to be the starter there in New York for the Jets. And just kind of watching the chemistry with these guys. And one of the things we were talking about before the show is Corey Davis was on the field for all of 22 snaps for the preseason. During those 22 snaps, he was targeted 14 times like that is that is a quarterback building chemistry with his wide receiver that is a quarterback knowing who his alpha is going to be. And just working on that consistently now. He Corey Davis, I think others are starting to see this as well. Right? So coming into this past weekend, Corey Davis, his ADP was somewhere around 105. Okay, I’m coming out of the weekend, after all these sites kind of download their data and they do these ADP calculators and everything else is jumped up from 105 to 93. Like a full round, that’s a full round right and that’s a big deal when you start kind of getting into these types of ranges. So depending on who you’re drafting with, he’s a guy that you can get later he’s a nice he’s a nice piece to see let’s let’s see if he can duplicate what he did last year or be better as the true alpha was Zack Wilson right? Like there’s extreme value with that and him coming off. The board is like the 50 to 55th wide receiver you know if he’s finishing his wide receiver three and you’re able to pop him in as your flex spots in certain situations, but your values right there so he’s a guy who at the moment that that’s one of the late round guys that I’m really targeting he’s he’s going to be the number one on that team. We’ve seen that they liked Elijah more but right now, this season is going to be Corey Davis.

Alex 25:30
So the two guys that I picked, I guess we’re not really ninth round values at the moment but they could be but obviously in a single quarterback, you know, quarter single quarterback league quarterbacks are gonna go a little bit later. So Tom Brady is obviously a guy that after that kind of first run a quarterback skos knees, he’s down there in the 70s, I guess right now and some ADP, so it’s later, but Tom Brady‘s a guy that and I’m actually basing this unbelieving, I’m drinking the kool aid that that Kevin is serving up this year and that Tom Brady‘s got 50 touchdowns at him, so I have no reason not to believe it based on the performance that we saw last year. And another year in Bruce Arians offense. The kool aid that Derek’s been serving up this year, the second year and Bruce Arians offense for quarterbacks is, is remarkable. So based on my two co hosts, I think Tom Brady is a guy that you can target late and you’ll be ecstatic about but since Tom Brady is a quarterback, I’ll also throw out Courtland Sutton, which this one might be a little bit of a homer pick. And I have said this once, I’ll say it 1000 times as a receiver, you’re only as good as the guy throwing you the football. And I don’t know if he and Teddy have any sort of chemistry, but I do know that if you throw the ball in Courtland Sutton general direction, odds are he’s going to come down with the catch, because the guy’s a vacuum and you’re not going to see too many, you know, missed opportunities when the ball is thrown his way. So he’s a guy that I think you know, has a really solid upside if the chemistry is there between him and Teddy or drew Locke after three games. Who knows what’s going on with the Broncos quarterback situation anymore?

Kevin 27:16
Well, I think it can be and one thing I have to remind myself as a bronco fan as well, about Teddy Bridgewater is he supported three top 24 receivers last year in Robbie Anderson, DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel like, yes, the system and the offensive philosophy is going to be slightly different in Denver than it was in Carolina. Yes, Carolina was out Christian McCaffrey for a bulk of the season. Like I understand all the things that play into that, but still, for all the I don’t know, kind of man that we give to Teddy Bridgewater as, I think just the industry right? Not only the fantasy industry and as a bronco fan, he can support very strong wide receiver production and the Broncos with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Judy, that I would take those guys to be on a pretty similar playing field as a Robbie Anderson and DJ more. Maybe not quite apples to apples. I know some people are gonna like one group over the other and, you know, we can all debate that till we’re blue in the face. I’m just saying they’re comparable. So it’s possible and I have a lot of Courtland Sutton Alex because I’m thinking the same thing. He was falling down the draft boards. We went running back early, whatever, we need a third wide receiver to help really fill in and kind of cement that offense. And holy crap. Look, it’s Courtland Sutton sitting here in the eighth round, like why the hell not like we’ve seen what he can do when he’s at his best and he’s a he’s a top 15 receiver when he’s at his best. Right Well, we just got to see how the knee holds up.

Derek 28:57
Well and not only that two rights kind of piggyback off your your thought there and Carolina is if Teddy Bridgewater had thrown some more touchdowns when they got down in there and and that he would have been a much better fantasy option as far as the quarterback goes but that was one of the big downfalls last year for his fantasy production was the lack of touchdowns now you know maybe that changes around here a little bit because of the fact that you know Carolina didn’t I would say the Broncos defense probably been a little bit better than Carolina is for sure but the you know that’s one of those that you that could help them get that because they’re probably get a little bit better starting field position things like that that that helped them move the ball down the field a little bit and get in position a little bit better there so absolutely field

Kevin 29:41
goals over three announces a bronco fan. Yep. And I get it like moving in between the 20s it’s not three out three out three and out like we’ve seen from the Broncos in recent years.

Derek 29:53
Absolutely. Absolutely. So my my late round, guys in I’ve kind of swapped I’ve kind of jumped between two of them. They play on the same team, Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell. And it all comes down to, you know, two guys that I absolutely love. We’ve talked extensively about this Colts offense and what we think this wide receiver room is going to do this year. And so one of those that if I miss on one of those guys, I’m picking up the, if I miss out on Michael Pittman, and about the 10th, I’m picking up. I’m picking up Paris Campbell in about the 14th is where I can get him and I love that pairing. Same thing to another guy that I’ve been just loving the value on his Will Fuller, who a lot of times you can pick up on the 10th or the 11th in some cases, and that’s another guy that even with that suspension coming out there, he was a top 10 wide receiver last year before that hit. And I think that that Miami defense the way that they went out and instructed that they’re going to try and push that ball down the field a little bit. So I think you’ll see some pretty good things there because I think they’re going to really see what two has and if that that deep ball. The two have showed a lot in college, if that’s going to stand out there and he’s got two playmakers on the outside in both wattle and in Will Fuller they can go down the field and catch a deep ball.

Kevin 31:13
I agree with that. I think one guy that one guy that I want to mention that we probably haven’t talked about enough, throughout the preseason on this is Terrence Marshall for the Carolina Panthers. the Carolina Panthers don’t really use a tight end for receiving purposes. That’s not really their offensive philosophy. Dan Arnold‘s going to stay in line. And Thomas is a great run blocking tight end has never quite panned out as the past catcher that we thought it might be coming out of college. But Terrence Marshall is a big body receiver who has no problem playing in the slot and kind of filling that tight end void. And I believe if if my numbers are correct, he led the NFL in yards after the catch in the preseason. Now, not always does that translate to the regular season, but it does show me that Sam Darnold is targeting him like he’s aware of where he’s at on the field. And the Carolina is trying to get him in space to run after the catch. So I I took a flyer on the home league in the last round of ours just to kind of put my money where my mouth was but I think as far as a you know, a fourth or fifth wide receiver on your team depending on construction. I think you could do a lot worse than Terrence Marshall who I think was going to be kind of the redzone hog they’re in Carolina since there is no true tight end force to toss the ball to in the ends Oh

Derek 32:52
yeah, yeah, I think you’re probably right on I was a little jealous of your your last round pick there of Terrence Marshall but I liked it. It definitely was worth a flyer in the 20th round and can’t believe that you got in there. So guys any other thoughts on any other ADP type of targets whether it be early mid or late any other thoughts for before we move on?

Kevin 33:14
I think the biggest thing with the targets is as we’ve been preaching like these are guys to look after but have them in again tears we talked about the tears have them with some like minded or like caliber individuals right? So if you miss out on one you’re not freaking out and going holy crap the guy wanted is gone. What am I doing now I have a two minute clock I can’t make up my mind and then you panic draft. Because when you panic draft is when you end up looking at the board at the end of the day and going well crap, I could have this guy or I could add this guy and it doesn’t make it nearly as much fun. So just make sure you have a backup plan. And if you’re going to go get your guy by all means do it. But don’t spend the whole draft reaching for your guy at be comfortable with letting the draft board fall to you. understanding where the value is and then drafting to that board. Because that will help you just as much as anything else will is if you’re comfortable in whatever situation you get handed to you

Derek 34:17
like it I like it. That is some very sage advice, guys, we’re going to go ahead and move on over into some my guys some busts and some sleepers. And this one should be a lot of fun. We went to sports me earlier today to get some people’s, you know my guys their bus, their sleepers, we’ve got their takes, we’re going to show that here. If you guys have not downloaded the sports free app, it’s a lot of fun. Hop on to the Google Play store the apple, the App Store, download that you can find us over there. You can hop in the battles give some takes back and forth. We would love to see you make an appearance on the show under the sports me spicy take here. We’re easy to find. So guys, without further ado, let’s go ahead and Hit up some sports we spicy takes what some folks had to say on my guys Boston sleepers.

Kevin 35:11
Derrick, my guy give me Alan Robinson he’s always my guy criminally under drafted for like years always disrespected.

Alex 35:18
He’s my pick. Bust give me Zeke. I don’t think he’s trending the right direction. You know those 1020 plus yard carries not there. Lions been great. He hasn’t been I’m sorry. Just facts. And then specific sleepers. I don’t have any specific ones by later on flyers. I usually don’t take wide receivers, I take your running backs to see if I can hit on one of those.

35:40
What’s on for my guy is Justin Herbert. If I can get Justin Brown. I’m gonna be golden especially with the staff who can now be Gucci. My boss is Myles Sanders. I don’t think he’s gonna be very good for Philadelphia. I think they will be trailing a lot. And that’s going to go away from the running game. And my sleeper is baby Tron Kenny doll. I think he’s had a very sneaky solid season. His first year in the middle ends with the giants. So there you go. That’s why I got

36:11
let’s see. My God. Math go wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys. You have a big year this year. Year. A bus. Kenny Golladay. I hate to say it because I have last year and he just fizzled out. So this year see Danny dives in the New York Giants Office of life. My sleeper is going to be terrace Martin Jr. On the Carolina Panthers. kids got scared.

Derek 36:40
My guy Austin Ekeler I think he’s the third best running back on the draft board right now for CMC. Dalvin Cook Austin eckler Okay, I’m very bullish on Austin eckler my busts all three in Cincinnati wide receivers. They’re all being drafted way too high chase Boyd Hagen’s think they’re all on a bus especially when they’re being drafted by sleeper. debo Samuel. Everyone’s talking about train lands the running backs Brandon IU George kittel

37:08
de volgen outscore Amol Derek was good as your boy run boys Robbie run boys fantasy network for my guy. I’m gonna say Antonio Gibson I have him ending RB six overall for a bus I’m gonna say called Pitts because we’re expecting him to have the greatest rookie season ever since Jeremy shock and I think that’s gonna let some people down. There’ll be close but not as high as what everyone thinks. And then for a sleeper on rah rah rah la stuck in a bad all fans.

37:37
My guy has got to be Dalvin Cook for CMC. I think CMS he’s looking to have a comeback here after his injury. Sam Donald is gonna be a good replacement for him at quarterback. Also, again Dalvin Cook you can’t go wrong. My bus that’s gonna be a spicier take and people gonna make fun of me for it. I don’t trust the saints offense for Alvin Camaro Camaro had significantly less productivity when breeze was gone. My sleeper miles Gaskin

Derek 38:08
so some great takes there and a lot of fun. Absolutely enjoyed everybody.

Alex 38:14
That’s fun.

Derek 38:15
Yeah, that was it was a lot of fun. It got a lot of a lot of traction over there on the sports man again guys. If you have not downloaded that app, you need to hop in the Google Play Store. You need to hop in the App Store download it you can go to get sports me.com it’ll it’ll point you there to get that done. You know hop on there you can give your takes. You know we do more than just the sports sweet spicy takes on there. You can hop on there you can you can give us a good old fashioned take the betas on some of these things. It’s a lot a lot of fun and encourage everybody to hop over there and try it out. But guys, I thoroughly enjoyed some of those. Let’s go ahead and talk about are my guys here so it is flagged printing time. And who is your my guy for 2021

Kevin 39:04
I’ll kick it off. I’ll kick it off. My guy should be no surprise to listeners of the show. I have been pounding this guy as far as just just propping him up really about as long as we’ve been talking about the 2021 season. It will be a bounce back season. I have him finishing RB three at the end of the year. Zeke Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys. I do think that getting Zach Martin back in the cohesiveness of the offensive line will help Dak Prescott. Staying healthy for a whole season obviously helps when the secondary has to worry about three wide receivers kind of covering on at all times. Not to mention, have you seen his workout videos? Dude is lean. And he is mean so I’m I’m eating up Zeke all day for my guy.

Alex 39:57
So my guy it should come as no surprise Anybody who’s listened for any amount of time, my guy is Carson Wentz. He’s the guy that I’ve targeted him since his rookie year. So he was a guy that I took you know, in the last round of the draft in our home league. his rookie season you know one of those guys that you know, he wasn’t supposed to play his rookie year and then all of a sudden he did but then put out a couple of good seasons won a Super Bowl. He was hurt but he won the Super Bowl. Who’s on the team that won the Super Bowl backup quarterback gets the ring just the same as the starting quarterback

Derek 40:31
knows that all too well.

Alex 40:32
Yeah, so Carson Wentz is my guy but I will admit I’m not as bullish on Carson Wentz anymore. And so he’s not not exactly the guy that I’m like super upset if I don’t get him But there is another one that that there is like that. And you’ll find it it’s no surprise that it’s Trey Lance that if I’m not getting Trey Lance, I’m going to be upset.

Derek 41:02
Yeah, we we saw that in the in the home league this past week. Funny enough out of all of the my guys only one guy in this on this panel ended up with his BIGEYE on his team for our home league. And we’ll get to that when we cover the home league. So my my my guy Also, if you have listened to this show for any amount of time is no surprise a guy that I started really kind of getting on board with last year and watch the breakout happened. And that is Antonio Gibson, and a guy that I’m very big on very bullish on and I’m kind of right there. We saw Robbie give that running back six overall ranking. That is where I had him projected. Going through it as well. So some big things that I see coming from from that as well. And guys, we’ve got a couple of questions coming in here. So before we get to this, the bus and the sleepers, we’ve got some questions answered. So would you trade Henry physique I took AJ Brown as a steel in round four. My other bags are Gibson and Carson full PPR. And I will say absolutely I will trade Henry for Zeke. Because if I’m on the board drafting I’m going to draft Zeke over Henry in a redraft.

Alex 42:17
This isn’t going to be a consensus then. He He goes on to say Derrick and you’ll ask if you put up his next comment. He’s worried about the brown and Henry stack and I don’t I wouldn’t be anything to be worried about. Honestly, I don’t I don’t think that either of those two are going to really eat Eat into each other’s productivity because man Tennessee likes to run the football and even with Julio there, I still think you know there’s gonna be opportunities for Derrick Henry to run. So really, this just comes down to you know, which back do you think he’s gonna have the better year I’m not in the Zeke is going to have a better year than Derrick Henry camp. So I would I would be fine with staying with Derrick Henry. But I don’t know that you can go wrong here. Especially if you’ve got Gibson and Carson is your other two bags. I think, you know, you can really just kind of get your get it all out.

Derek 43:10
Yeah. Running back for elite running back. Right.

Alex 43:12
Yeah, it’s not really that big of a trade. So if you are concerned about the stack, and you’ve got the dance partner to go with you, then I guess do it. But I don’t know that I would be so so quick to hit the trade button on that.

Kevin 43:27
I’m not worried about the stack either. So if that if that’s what your concern is? I don’t I don’t think you need to be concerned about that. What you’re basically doing as you’re just capitalizing on both phases of the Tennessee offense and kind of both alphas within that what what worries me more is the knee issues that AJ Brown is having, then it is with kind of stacking them up together. But that being said, honestly, this is a coin flip. I would take Zeke, there’s nothing wrong with keeping Henry there’s a strong argument to be had both ways, especially in a full PPR because Derrick Henry is probably going to have, you know, maybe 18 catches on the season, and that would be a career high. If I’m not mistaken. zeek I think you can comfortably slot him in for 55 to 60 receptions this year. He is quite undervalued as a past, catching running back. So you do kind of get those points that help eat away at just the sheer volume that Derrick Henry can see on the ground at times. I think touchdown wise, they’re probably going to be about even this season. So if touchdowns are a net, honestly, if you have the receptions kind of outweighing maybe some of the extra yardage that Derrick Henry would see. It’s a coin flip I think I have Derrick Henry s6 in my rankings and I know five i think i Derrick Henry five and Zeke at three so it’s whatever you feel comfortable with at this point. Have fun with your fantasy See team, there is no clear right or wrong answer as you’ve seen with our panel, but make sure you’re comfortable with it and do what makes you happy and this type of trade,

Derek 45:09
right? I like like we said it’s elite for elite. You can’t go wrong either way. But it sounds like both Kevin and I would take the Zeke Alex would take the Derrick Henry. So not a concern. Not a unanimous decision, but your fantasy football supposed to be fun. Take the guy that does that for you. Let’s go ahead. We’ve got another question here. And it’s a half point PPR 12. Team league is a Is this a solid wide receivers squad. Calvin Ridley Robbie Anderson Jarvis Landry, Brandon cooks devonta. Smith, also thinking of acquiring Jamison Crowder off of waivers goes on to say thank you guys. Great show. Guys. What are your thoughts here? I’ll put that back up here so you guys can see that the solid is that a solid squat for you?

Kevin 45:57
I can run with that. Yeah, I can add that castle. Calvin Ridley‘s the clear number one in Atlanta. Robbie and Anderson, depending on the week is the one a or one B and Carolina. Okay. Fine. Jarvis as we I’ll touch on the Jarvis thing here later in the show, but I think Jarvis is fine. Brandon cooks is the clear number one in Houston, granite. You have to trust tyrod so maybe Cam Newton, maybe man, maybe Cam Newton going down to Houston. It’s it’s throwing darts. But yeah, and DeVonta Smith. I think Jalen hertz has to fall in love with someone so it might as well be an old teammate and DeVonta Smith and being able to kind of trust him and and feed him the ball. Otherwise, Jalen hertz is going to fizzle out this league as fast as he climbed up the ranks from the end of last season to this season. So I don’t think you need to acquire Crowder unless you’re absolutely dropping a dud. I’m just not that convinced that Crowder isn’t going to be like the third, possibly fourth mouth that they try and feed in this New York Jets offense. So I think there might be some other pieces that you can look out on your waiver wire if Crowder’s out there. Jacoby Meyers might be out there. Who, right wrong or indifferent. He right now he’s the alpha and Mack Jones really likes Jacoby Meyers. So he’s climbing up my draft board as well. Because he’s going to be kind of the number one guy there and in New England, so take that for what it’s worth.

Derek 47:28
Alex, any thoughts on that one?

Alex 47:31
Yeah, I mean, I’m okay with you know, if you have to start three, I mean, there are four or five strong candidates, I think that the issue that you’re going to run into is figuring out who to plug into that third spot. I think that’s that’s going to be the issue. But, but honestly, that I mean, there’s nothing wrong with with starting three of those guys, any given week.

Derek 47:54
Now, you’re you’re absolutely right there. And the fact to that, you know, you’re talking about, you know, maybe having an issue trying to figure out who to start there. It makes it easy, where you start playing the matchup on there. I do like the devonta. Smith pick, kind of late there as that as that guy there, where we’ve seen a lot of these rookie wide receivers start to pop in the back half of the year. So that could be a little bit of a sneaky play. They’re headed down the stretch as you get ready for a playoff run. Like that’s a that’s a nice little pickup there that that could do some big things there. Another question coming in. It says burrow. Imagine he’s talking about Joe Burrow. He is he says thoughts and any upside to be a QB one. That’s one.

Kevin 48:41
He, I think he could be right, we all kind of have him on that fringe. And it’s all based on the knee. Now, the third preseason game looked a little bit better. So it’s, it’s clear that he is knocking some of the rust off, he might have a little bit slower start than what you would like. But by the end of the season, I still think Cincinnati is going to be losing most of their games. And last year before he got hurt. He had the most pass attempts in the NFL. I don’t see that changing. I don’t see Cincinnati, adding enough on the defensive side of the ball to where he’s just not going to throw the ball anymore and acquire acquire the points. He has an extra target now with Mr. Chase. I absolutely see I see absolutely nothing wrong as long as you have the expectation of somewhere between 14 and eight as the high side depending on his touchdowns. I think you’re going to get what you pay for there. Right.

Alex 49:40
Cosine.

Derek 49:41
All right. Um, yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if you see Joe Burrow at the end of this deal where we see the majority of his games he went out and threw the ball between probably 32 and 43 times in each one of these games there. That was kind of the same pace that you saw him on last year. The fact that they went out and draft and spent very early draft capital on On damar Chase, I think they are a believer that they’re going to have to throw the ball and they’re going to have to do the throwing the ball a lot to even try and stay in these games. So I’m kind of right there with you kind of that fringe QB one territory for me.

Kevin 50:14
Garbage time points can add something in fantasy football and right wrong or indifferent Joe Burrow is going to acquire a ton of garbage time points, because the defense is not going to be able to stop too many teams.

Derek 50:29
Right? Absolutely. So guys, let’s go ahead and head back over we got some busts to talk about. So let’s hit him up. Let’s hear your bust for the 2021 season.

Alex 50:43
I’ll start so this might just be in retaliation of who Derrick thinks his bust is going to be. But I’ve gone with

Derek 50:55
reasons behind mine.

Alex 50:57
I’m sure you do. And mine is totally just to spite you. So I’ve gone with with Nick Chubb as my bust I just don’t know. I feel like the Baker Mayfield is going to take another step forward in this Cleveland offense. And I think that the passing game is going to be effective in itself. I really have no reason to decide like to pick Nick Chubb, other than I just looked at his name, threw a dart at it, you know, like, that’s really what it is. That’s the only reason I mean, he’s a high pick. He’s going for a lot. Cleveland’s team is good, right? But they’ve got a lot of mouths to feed. We’ve talked about this. And while he might be the only show in town when it comes to running back, I still think that they’re going to get creative in the ways that they’re going to do other things with with Oh, shoot. I can’t remember the head coach’s name anymore. Used to be the OC for Minnesota fan ski. Thank you. sirianni was the only thing coming to my head. He’s the Eagles coach.

Kevin 51:57
That’s Philadelphia.

Alex 51:59
Yeah, but it’s the fancy I mean, he’s a creative offensive mind. So I I don’t know this is in retaliation because I picked up say Quan on my on the HomeLink team. I really cannot afford to have him be in Boston this year. So that leads into derek derek say your

Derek 52:18
way to Thunder. So this is one of those that I’m sure I’m going to hear about it from all the say Quan truths out there. But say Quan Barkley is going to be my bus for 2021 and there’s several reasons behind it one, you know, we’re still not sure what’s when he’s going to actually see the field things like that. So we’re already seeing a little bit of risk kind of enter into what what has been traditionally a first round pick. In almost every draft that I’ve been in. I’ve seen him slip a little bit where you can get him in the second round things like that. But for the most part, he is a middle. Middle of the first type of pick there right most folks are taking him in the top five Arby’s off the board and if you’re going to take him as a top five RB off the board he has to deliver on that draft capital. And a lot of the reason that I have behind the say Kwan not finishing inside that top five. For me, it has everything to do with what the Giants I what what I believe the giants are gonna do this year on offense. They brought in they paid the they brought in the highest paid wide receiver in the SOF this offseason and Kenny Golladay to push the ball down the field. Dairy Slayton is also on the on the outside to push the ball down the field. You had Sterling shepherd and Evan Ingram, as well as they spent a first round draft capital on curious Tony, all of these guys who run these kind of short and intermediate routes, they’re in the middle of the field now. Couple that was where we’ve seen se Quan be amazing for fantasy football that was in his rookie season. And it was a different makeup of the offense, you saw say Quan get 120 targets. That year, Eli Manning was a check down master would check that ball down, check football down, check the ball down, you saw say Quan, get a ton of points through that. And since we’ve seen that switch to Daniel Jones, we have not seen that type of consistency from a the receiving work there. And again, I don’t know that that’s where they’re going to be looking to go. Daniel Jones is also a much more mobile, mobile quarterback than Eli Manning was where he is he can take off and we’ve seen him break break at yard runs down the field, just you know, sometimes he trips over the yard line there. But regardless of that, you will see Daniel Jones be a mobile quarterback in has the ability to take off and make some plays with his legs. Thus, he does not necessarily mean to check down like you saw Eli Manning did. So that’s where I see a lot of it. That is while the Giants made some improvements on the offensive line. I don’t know that that offensive line improved enough for se Quan to get back to a hyper efficient type of deal. He’ll still see a lot of volume there. But I don’t know that he sees the volume in the passing game to make him a top five back this type of year. And that’s why I see him finishing on a fringe running back One side of things and that’s that’s why he’s a bus for me is that draft capital is not going to pay off in my mind

Kevin 55:09
to share sir to Shay. I’m gonna so instead of going the veteran, I’m gonna go with the number one overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence etn going down hurts. DJ Chark being banged up through camp hurts, they don’t really have that chemistry. You have a couple other just low viscous tional, which I’m still not convinced on. He’s he’s another guy that because of Lauren’s like, I just, I just don’t see it. So I think Trevor Lawrence is going to take his lumps in Jacksonville. Right, wrong or indifferent? Yes, they get the benefit of playing Houston twice. But on the flip side, they have to play Indy twice, who finishes the top three defense last year. I think they continue to improve that defense throughout the offseason in the draft. So I think Andy’s gonna be very strong on the defensive side of the ball. And Tennessee, which is those Tennessee Jacksonville games always seem to be like 1317, right, like those games are never the barnburner. light, light show Star Wars games that put up a ton of points. So I don’t think the schedule does them any favors. I think having a first time head coach doesn’t necessarily do them any favors. And I think that just the overall skill around him, whether it’s offensive line or the wide receiver core. They don’t have a tight end. All those things. So where’s where’s this security blanket? So I am not a believer in Trevor Lawrence. I think he’s being drafted too high. And for those of you taking him as your QB one in a superflex. I feel like you’re going to be really, really hurting come the end of the season wishing that you would have gone another route? Nope.

Derek 56:53
Yep, I would agree with you. One other thought that I had when I was watching that game was you looked at how Urban Meyer I however, Meyer kind of sees that offense moving and how Darrell bevell sees that offense moving, and they’re not on the same page as far as what that offense looks like. So I think that’s going to kind of stunt the growth there and not provide the continuity that you need that young quarterback to have to be successful and, or which is

Kevin 57:17
mind blowing, because urban had to say and bring Derrick bevel in like that just wasn’t an arbitrary decision. Like, here’s our head coach, here’s our offensive coordinator. Here’s our defensive guy like, Urban Meyer had a hand in all this like and how I get contrasting opinions, I get that Derrick bevel has NFL experience and can kind of fill in some of the learning gaps that Urban Meyer hat might have switching to the NFL game away from collegiate football, but you’re absolutely right. They’re like their offensive philosophies are so completely different. And yes, we’ve seen Urban Meyer transform when he was at Ohio State. We saw him pound the ball with Zeke. And then we saw even as recently as two years ago when Justin Fields took over and and just start chucking the ball through the air. So we’ve seen them do both sides. But this is a different level of competition than what he even saw at Ohio State.

Derek 58:10
Absolutely, absolutely. So guys, we’re talking the bus by the way, Alex, I don’t know if you saw that. BDM 16 definitely agrees with me on the barkly take so I’m sorry that that we’ve got some folks agreed there.

Alex 58:23
All right. Hey, BDM all that advice that I gave you on the head, Henry physique, I’m just kidding.

Derek 58:30
Now we appreciate all the comments coming in it makes the show a lot of fun. So we appreciate you guys chime in in let’s go ahead and move on over let’s talk about some sleepers and kind of one of those that it’s an interesting thought when you think of sleepers because of the fact that everybody always has a sleeper now and and everything so saturated out there that it’s how do you really have a sleeper these days, but we’re gonna go ahead and talk about the sleepers and again BDM 16 we we appreciate that. So let’s go ahead and hit him up who you got as your sleeper

Alex 59:01
while since since Kevin just went and tore down his quarterback there for a couple minutes. I’m gonna go with love discussion no as my sleeper just because and the both of you actually tearing down their offensive philosophy there in Jacksonville. But I do think that that Shinola if there is going to be a shining piece in this offense. That’s not named James Robinson. I think it’s going to be the viscous gentle kids big. I think you know, you get another year in the league with him. And keep in mind guys like he was he could have been a much higher draft pick if it weren’t for that injury or whatever he was dealing with going into the draft. What was that two years ago? So two drafts ago. So I think we’ll discuss general is a guy who is going to have have a pretty good especially from where he’s being drafted to where he’s finishing. I have as I was looking at it, sorry, I had it pulled up and then I lost it. But let’s discuss You know, anywhere from, you know, 90 to is where they’ve got him overall. I’m sure he’s being drafted, actually relatively high in the 40s. But I still think that he’s going to outperform the wide receiver. I don’t even know I lost that page, whatever distinction he has there. But I think he’s gonna outperform that

Kevin 1:00:28
my sleeper is more of a kind of a mid round sleeper. It’s not even a true late round sleeper. So I understand but this is a guy who is going off the board at about quarterback 17. He’s a guy who’s being kind of firmly cemented into that QB two status as you’re looking at guys, and his name is Baker Mayfield. And here’s another guy, I didn’t think I would be pumping up on our show. I did not like Baker. Last year, I thought his rookie year was kind of a lot of smoke and mirrors. And here we are this year and he’s my sleeper. And I think it’s because after going through it, seeing what the Browns have done. Getting OBJ back helps. I don’t care what these haters say. I’m not saying the OBJ is gonna finish top five. Don’t get me wrong on this. I am not telling anybody that OBJ will finish as a top five wide receiver but I do think OBJ still provides an element and an extra layer of complexity to this offense. And the way Kevin Stefanski wants to run it with the play action game that he will be valuable. I think Baker is now coming into yet another season. In this offense. He had a full offseason to work with the guys to get in the film room to spend time with his teammates. And they want to improve this team is hungry guys. We saw it in the playoffs last year when they gave the Chiefs everything they wanted and then some in the playoffs. They are hungry and they are out to prove you know the the remaining doubters wrong again, and I think this offense, we’re gonna see some more passing out of this offense this year. Last year was very run heavy. Obviously they lost Odell Beckham. Jarvis Landry played through some injuries, but he wasn’t the healthiest guy in the world. And they were really just trying to limit some of the defensive time on the field because their defense had big holes in it. Well, the Browns sunk the most money into the defensive side of the ball. In the NFL this past offseason they drafted to help the defensive side of the ball. They brought in an extra piece for the offensive line to continue to bolster that like the Browns made a lot of really good moves that I don’t think people are paying attention to. And if you have miles Garrett, Mr. Tomahawk chop, and jadeveon Clowney coming off the ends that’s gonna lead to some sacks which leads to some turnovers which leads to some short fields and so on so forth. We understand how this progression goes but I think Baker has a very sneaky sneaky possibility of finishing up towards quarterback 12 or 13 come the end of the season it’s not where I haven’t ranked at the moment but I can see a path and a possibility where this happens

Derek 1:03:31
and you just made me really glad I drafted him and in a certain league that I just

Kevin 1:03:35
asked if you I just asked what your price tag was on that I had to talk him up so So

Derek 1:03:40
just imagine that went up just just FYI. Alrighty guys, so my sleeper is as a deep late round guy and it’s a method that i’ve you know, I’ve talked about it heavily on the show that you know, if you’re not going to get one of these big tight ends one of these big named tight ends top three kind of guys put the position and find the guys later in the draft that can help you out with that and a guy that I think can do that for you is one Mr. Gerald ever at the tight end out of Seattle, I think that he will have some very, very good draft value returned when it’s all said and done. And tight end is when it comes to a streaming type of thing you’re going to be able to stream him more than more than what his draft capital is going to provide you so I think that he is going to get you some really really good weeks when it’s all said and done. Guys, any other thoughts on some sleepers buster, my guys,

Alex 1:04:38
I did want to clarify I found I found my my page with a viscous channel who’s being ADP somewhere in the 90s late 80s to late 90s. And they’ve got this what I’m looking at wide receiver 38 I think he finishes he could he could easily finish as wide receiver in the widest You were to territory.

Kevin 1:05:02
Would you rather have laviska? shoulder Corey Davis?

Derek 1:05:05
Corey Davis?

Alex 1:05:07
Probably Corey Davis, but we already talked about him.

Kevin 1:05:10
No, I understand. But I’m just context. Just context this all right. And that’s really, and that’s really what it is right? It’s just guys are going around the same draft area. And, you know, people have to make decisions. That’s all

Derek 1:05:25
right. But Alex, I think this is the first year that I’m kind of getting on board with the love discussion. All right, like I was very, very well on the record as far as what that looked like going into his rookie season and even earlier in the offseason, when we covered the Jags for that team breakdown, but kind of watching him and how I think they’re gonna use him. I think he will return some pretty good value for you. So I think you you might be onto something there, sir. Alrighty, guys, so that means it’s time to talk about the home leak. And we got the home league recap here. So let’s go ahead and start this thing off and just kind of give everybody the team that you drafted. Right Who is your team that you came away with on this on this guy, and you have some pics that you’re really happy about? Maybe some some places that you kind of pause maybe a little tilt action in there. Let us know what you got.

Alex 1:06:19
champ kick us off. Yeah. That I don’t know that there’s gonna be a defending of that championship. Really, it started in the first round. And I was picking behind. Yeah, obviously Rhodes was was two pigs in front of me. And then Kyle. Kyle was the pic in front of me with Craig right behind me and I was picking an 11 I was I will not lie to you. I was thrown for a loop. When Kyle made his pick in the first round. Taking Aaron Rodgers right in front of me that was the 123 the fourth quarterback that was taken in the first round. Now this is a super flex league. So quarterbacks are important. But with Rogers going, and four quarterbacks going in front of me before I even got to make a selection, not gonna lie, I panicked a little bit and was like, I don’t want to get stuck not having a top end quarterback. There’s still plenty of running backs. And honestly, I went into this draft thinking, you know, there are plenty of good receivers out there too. So I’m not going to have to worry about going receiver too early. If I’m not going to target one of the top five guys, which I wasn’t targeting one of the top five, so that’s okay. I was able to just kind of wait on the position a little bit. But I panicked and I took Justin Herbert because I was scared that four quarterbacks went running. And I my options are basically Justin Herbert Lamar Jackson DAC and Russell Wilson. And I’m a believer in Justin Herbert. I think what he’s doing there in LA. It’s working. So I went with Justin Herbert, even though we haven’t seen him at all this preseason because he didn’t play any or barely any if he did play. So Justin Herbert was my number one overall pick and then after that, I was kind of looking at the board hoping that Craig would fall for the sake one trap because Sega one was still available. But Craig did on the turnaround went with Lamar and Claire and I really wanted eckler to fall back to me even though it would have been a stack of chargers players right off the bat. I could have lived with that. So but I ended up going with se Quan in the second round David Montgomery in the third round, DeAndre swift in the fourth round at four two and then I finally went receiver in the fifth round with Robert Woods at 511. In the sixth round is where I had my reach and this is a keeper league and there is a draft penalty but I could live with the fact that if I get to keep trade lands for a sixth round pick, which I don’t believe he’s going to be a sixth round pick next year in any drafts in any redraft superflex leagues so I felt like that was an okay time to to pull the trigger on getting tre Lance as my second quarterback even though it’s kind of a stash play. That was the long con that I was playing. I might Robbie Anderson in the seventh Ryan Fitzpatrick because I did need a second quarterback that I knew was going to start right away in a super flex league picked up a little discretional in the ninth cocomat and the 10th Henry Ruggs in the 11th James Connor in the 12th. We do IDPs in the in the home link so I picked up Alex Singleton in the 13th gallop in the 14th. The Niners defense and special teams in the 15th. Jordan Hicks linebacker from Arizona in the 16th. And then it was just building roster time at this point. So Kenneth gain well in the 17th Mike Williams in the 18th Adam Troutman in the 19th and Matt Prater as my kicker in the final round.

Kevin 1:09:55
Very well, sir. I was drafting from the nine hole Started out with Zeke as the sixth RB off the board. So as I said earlier, I haven’t finishing RB three, so I saw that as value. So I smashed the draft button on Zeke, I think Derek was laughing his way all the way. Because he could just see it coming down the board to me. I had to pause for a quick second. In the second round, I was really targeting eckler Craig took him at two, one. So at two, four, I went with Aaron Jones, which, as the 10th running back off the board, I think that’s fair value. I think that’s right about where he’s gonna finish. So again, kind of let it fall to me. And the third, I took Tom Brady as the 10th quarterback off the board. Here’s here, here’s kind of an interesting kicker. So I took Justin Jefferson, he fell in the fourth. And I had to think about this pic for a second because I didn’t know if I wanted to double up and go, Brady and Jalen hertz, or Brady and Joe Burrow and really just kind of put the squeeze on that quarterback position. Or if I wanted to look at a different running back. But I decided that I was going to not pass the opportunity to get a share of Justin Jefferson, because I really don’t have him anywhere because he’s been going so high. So Justin Jefferson was 12345, the ninth ninth wide receiver off the board. So I felt pretty good about that. followed that up with DJ more in the fifth Trey Sermon in the sixth. What I think is my steal of the draft, TJ hawkinson, fell in our draft to the seven nine spots as the eighth tight end off the board. So I think that’s extremely good value on a guy that could very easily lead the Detroit Lions in target share catches, receptions, touchdowns all the way across the board. So I like that a lot. My flyer on quarterback kind of came in the eighth. Again, with it being a keep around. I took Justin Fields, he’s going to be starting sooner than later. I got him in the eighth round. Again, if it’s a keeper League, he’s not going to be going in the eighth round next year. And I saw some really good value with that. So I took fields in the eighth Juju fell to me in the ninth Sam Darnold in the 10th to kind of shore up that quarterback position to make sure I had starters. Zach Cunningham as my first IDP, and then Kenyan Drake, Corey Davis, which I was really happy with in the 13th Tremaine, Edmonds, Tony Pollard to handcuff that Zeke pick. So Tony Pollard all the way to the 15th so I got that handcuff there, went ahead and grabbed another quarterback tyrod and then Russell Gage, Rodrigo Blankenship, which was my kicker of choice coming in so I felt really good about that. And then a 20th round flyer on Terrence Marshall So overall, I was I was pretty stinking pleased walking away from this draft.

Derek 1:13:02
Yeah, yeah, I’m both you guys drafted some good teams. I was also very happy with my team as well. I was drafted drafting out of the four hole. So ended up having Dalvin Cook somehow fall to me, I was still amazed when when that one happened. Um, I was really debating on whether or not I was going to have to try and steal the zeek there or try and go with like a Kyler. But, but the fact that he fell to me took him at the 104 then Dak managed to fall back to me. And when we were going through the quarterback rankings, you guys know how high I am on deck. I’ve got him as the

Kevin 1:13:38
if you would have taken DAC, or if you start if you would have taken Zeke at four, I was fully committed on going eckler Gibson the first two rounds just to just to mind mess with you the whole rest of the draft.

Derek 1:13:53
I had also anticipated something like that happening as well. But I was extremely happy. I was really hoping to start this draft off with a dalvin Antonio Gibson clyde edwards lair kind of stack going through there. But it was not meant to be Antonio Gibson went to pics before before it got back to me in the second. So I took Dak Prescott to get my first quarterback off the board, which again I see is incredibly good value where I’ve got him finishing and being able to draft him as the seventh quarterback off the board. Then I managed to get clyde edwards a layer in the third. And then in the fourth and the fifth I managed to pair up a couple of really good young wide receivers that we could see the breakout come from both of these guys just here picked up CD lamb to complete the stack with Dak there in the fourth followed up with Terry Maclaurin in the fifth. Mark Andrews ended up falling to me in the six that’s a guy that’s normally been going in a lot of fifth rounds in most of the dress. Damien Harris, who you know, y’all heard me talk about as the mid round value fell to me in the seventh. Then I went, went on a quarterback run here, right? It’s a super flexible Deal. A lot of folks out there were drafted one, maybe two quarterbacks and I got into the eighth, ninth and 10th round and went, you know what, it’s a super flex. And if I can get one of these guys, it’s going to be a pretty good value for the following year. I might as well just keep drafting quarterbacks because they’re going to have a lot of value for trade. They’re going to have a lot of value with this draft keeper. So I went Baker j Miss Carson with my eight 9/10 pick, followed that up with Michael Pittman. And then Fred Warner in the 12th. Tyler Boyd in the 13th. Deon Jones in the 14th, Will Fuller I was very amazed that Will Fuller managed to fall all the way to be in the 15th, round naheem Heinz in the 16th Jamal Williams in the 17th, Gerald Everett in the 18th, the Patriots defense in the 19th and then picked up Travis etn, with my last pick in the 20th. And the beautiful thing about that is it’s a keeper league with a draft penalty. So if there’s a very good chance to Travis etn ends up as a keeper next year costing me a 20, round 20th round pick. And I couldn’t be more static about that. So guys, any other thoughts here on the home league?

Alex 1:16:12
Have you guys gone and looked and said like, oh, there was one team other than the one that you drafted? And then for the sake of this argument? Yeah, screw it, other than the one that you drafted if there was one team where you had to swap out their draft for your draft? Have you looked at who that might be?

Derek 1:16:29
Yes. And who I know who’s sitting on the screen down below. Okay,

Alex 1:16:34
well, then then then take Kevin out of the equation Take me out of the equation, which obviously I don’t think that’s the answer, but it wasn’t one of us. Who would you whose roster would you have liked to have ended up with?

Kevin 1:16:49
I could have made I could make my dad’s roster work. Yeah, like Jonathan Taylor. tyreke nozze Jalen hertz cup hunt cousins Darrell Henderson and the eighth which might have been the steal of the entire draft. I heard him very well I did like he’s still there. I was I was really hung there because I knew I wanted Justin Fields and a part of that electricity even though the bear scheduled the season kind of sucks. So I knew I wanted fields but would have to handicap in with some other quarterbacks. But seeing Daryl Henderson there I almost passed on fields and just said screw it. I’m just gonna let it fly. But I just I just couldn’t do it. So Daryl Henderson eight five I think was probably the steal of the draft. gronk Kenny Golladay AJ Dillon Miko Hardman he dropped. My dad drafted Cam Newton in the 15th because we all thought he’d still be on the roster, right. Everything leading up on Sunday was cam was probably going to win that starting job for at least a couple weeks. And it just didn’t play out that way. So big whoop. And then the Colts defense Jason Myers and Blake Jarwin. So I I could make that roster work and I’d be pretty happy with it.

Derek 1:18:01
Yeah, and we’ve got BDM 16 chiming in here with he’s gonna add his team to join the Convo with burrow Big Ben Derrick Henry and tony gibson, AJ Brown, Chris Godwin, Robert Tonyan, Chris Carson T. Higgins Robbie Anderson sirmon Moss, Marquez, Callaway and Darnell, Mooney.

Kevin 1:18:20
I like that AJ Brown Chris Godwin pairing right there. Like, that’s what, obviously Derrick Henry and Gibson is awesome. But aside from the obvious, right, like, I really like that AJ Brown, Chris Godwin pairing, I really wanted to try and get my hands on one of the Tampa Bay wide receivers, either Godwin or Evans, and it just wasn’t quite in the cards. They went at the top end of the draft right after the turn. So they went right next to each other, and it was just out of reach for me. But I liked that pairing a lot. I think you’ll have some success with that team. You can play Big Ben early in the season to make sure burrows is going to be right. And then you know, after a few weeks when big Ben’s arm starts to kind of go all noodle on you now you have Joe Burrow who’s knock the rust off and carry the rest of the way through.

Derek 1:19:08
Right. And speaking of that, kind of because that’s where that where the heavens God when all of that went was in the fourth to fifth type of turnaround there. And they went in between the CD lamb and the Terry Maclaurin for me and I was sitting there draft and CD lamb gone. You know what I liked the upside here, and I love what should be there on the board for me when it comes back thinking that I would be able to draft a guy like Alan Robinson, Mike Evans or Chris Godwin. They’re in the fifth and all three of those guys went in, in about six picks. So I was I was still happy that I could get a Terry Maclaurin to fall back there, but I would have I was looking to try and pair that with a Chris Godwin or a Alan Robinson just a target monster type of guy.

Alex 1:19:51
I will say there were some head scratchers in this draft press.

Kevin 1:19:56
Whose team did you want? Oh,

Alex 1:19:58
I actually really like Like aside from the first pick which we all know the reason there but I really like Taylor’s Taylor’s draft that she had as as I was just looking through it like pretty solid team. She She started off with Marian Gibson and then added 10 and Tannahill, Allen and Matt Ryan in the first five rounds and I was pretty pretty. And then to add a Julio Jones who is not catching from Matt Ryan, but Julio, and Brian Tannahill stack is very nice. I was really bummed when she picked up Keenan Allen I was hoping that dude would fall back around to me but not to me. But I was I was pretty hurt runningback sleeve a little bit to be desired outside of her top two with with Mike Davis and her he moster and and David Johnson, but the team itself isn’t isn’t that bad. You’re right, though. I think your dad Your dad, Ted did a really good job drafting this year. But to the head scratchers, because there were a few of them in the draft this year. Primarily, and I’m not sure. Yeah, pretty much every pick after the first round for Brian, I think was a head scratcher to all of us.

Kevin 1:21:17
I’ll give them until the I’ll give them through the I’ll give them through the third.

Alex 1:21:21
Okay, through the third

Kevin 1:21:23
like our league is typically running back heavy. So it was a little odd to see the zero RB approach but it’s not impossible. But Alan Kelsey Hopkins so you start the team. That’s a pretty good way to start zero rb, right. If you’re going those three. That’s about as good as you could ask for you have a top three quarterback, the best tight end and a top three wide receiver in most accounts like you feel pretty good about that. But here’s where it got interesting was round four. He went Kyle Pitts. Most drafts Kyle Pitts is going in the fourth round so it’s it’s not unheard of. I thought maybe it’s a pinch early with it being a super flex and some of the value that we had at receiver but he decided to go cockpits on the fourth, which he went javante Williams in the fifth. All that is fine. well and good, but he missed following up. So you went javante Williams and the fifth and then Brandon t Higgins ro Kwan DJ Chark miles Garrett. Zach Moss was his next running back in the 12th round. Then Sony Michelle in the 14th and chuba. Hubbard in the 17th. So that’s what was the head scratcher like it’s it was he passed on? Gus Edwards. So he went Brandon I you can set up Gus Edwards. Okay. He went t Higgins instead of Darrell Henderson. He went DJ Chark instead of re moster, like he had opportunities to really fill back in the running back room. And even though those guys aren’t like Class A players had a way to round it out and to really solidify that zero RB approach, which would have worked really well. He just chose to go a different way. And I think that’s really, really, really going to hurt him as we get into the season. I think I think he’s going to be looking to try and make a trade here and get some solid competitive depth at running back because he’s just not going to be able to compete through that position group for at least the first four or five weeks.

Alex 1:23:34
I will also say the other head scratcher in this draft was Craig’s Craig’s picks in round 17 and round 18 where he went Tyler bass, and then turned around on the turnaround at 1712. He takes Tyler bass kicker and all the turnaround he takes Jason Sanders kicker. Back to Back picks he takes two kickers

Derek 1:24:03
now, for the most part though, I really liked the team that he he walked away with there did a lot of Langley so

Alex 1:24:09
yeah, it was very annoying. The team that Craig was

Kevin 1:24:11
assembling his starting lineup is very competitive. I don’t know that he has a whole lot of you know, favorable depth outside of what he’s doing because he’s gonna he has Jackson eckler Ridley James Robinson, Lockett Deontay Johnson, so that’s kind of his skill position start he got Hunter Henry in the ninth, which is fair value for him. There’s a tight end run going there in the ninth so I don’t have any problem with that. But his third running back was Philip Lindsay in the 12th. His fourth wide receiver was Brandon cooks in the 13th. value wise for cooks. I’m okay with that. But, I mean, there’s just there’s a big I think there’s a big gap between who is starting lineups going to be and if any goodbody gets dinged up and through the bye weeks, he’s really gonna have to Be creative on the waiver wire and possibly make a trade or two to kind of give him some depth to get through the middle of the season where it gets so stinking hard to navigate at times.

Derek 1:25:12
Yeah, yeah but i did i do like his starting lineup that he put together for sure. So guys any other thoughts on the home league any other thoughts on on any of the other topics

Alex 1:25:26
super excited for games to actually kick off that’s gonna be fun.

Kevin 1:25:31
There’ll be a lot of fun the draft was fun we I mean we went we went from having it be a six hour ordeal the first year whatever the hell it was to we got all 20 rounds done and what just under are right at two hours I mean, super awesome. I am still super pleased that we changed platforms and switched it over to sleeper I still think the user interface just as so much more convenient and friendly once you spend you know 1015 minutes in it and really understand how it navigates so I love it. I like my team a lot I probably wish I had one more solid kind of backup running back on my team just to solidify it but for for where it’s sitting to start the season. I’m pretty happy with it and I’m just going to see where the chips fall and see what I can do about bringing home bring home the ship

Derek 1:26:28
Oh we got one more coming in here caches stylist is asking would y’all trade Aaron Jones and Jerry Judy for Dalvin Cook What are your thoughts here guys?

Kevin 1:26:43
I if I comfortable at my other wide, wide receiver positions? Hell yes.

Alex 1:26:51
Yeah, yeah, I think depending on what your other wide receivers are like, but if Judis your wide receiver one then I don’t think I would do it. Well,

Kevin 1:27:00
even if he’s wide receiver too, right? Like I don’t think most teams aren’t gonna wait until the seventh round or whatever it is to draft their first wide receiver but you could be a wide receiver too. And that’s kind of well within the range but if he’s your third or fourth wide out and you had you know Aaron Jones and then Rahim moster or something like that like he had a big long wait between the two like hell yeah go if you think he’s a top three guy go get your guy like we still don’t quite know. Oh, they’re on your bench on your bench? Oh yeah. Make the trade and then go pick up the top you know your favorite waiver wire wide receiver so I had to be careful how I said that. There’s a lot of W’s their favorite waiver wire? wide receiver? Yeah, to fill in the spot for duty. So you’ll be just fine.

Derek 1:27:52
Especially with your starters being Kenan and cup. Yeah, absolutely. Like there’s that’s a smash the accept button, complete that trade and move on like that is that is Yeah, you’re gonna improve your team. Instantly doing that some cash styluses Thanks, guys, and appreciate it. Oh, cash stylist, we appreciate you tuning in and asking these questions.
